After the birth

I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because I had an emergency C-section. I wasn't happy about it because I just wanted to go home.

After the birth, I couldn't get up for a couple days. I was hurting and very tired. My blood pressure was still high so they keep monitoring my blood pressure. They also kept drawing my blood to see if I need to have blood transfusion. I ended up getting two transfusion. My right arm are all bruised because they literary poked me ten thousand times to draw my blood. My arm was all swollen so they had to poke at least a couple times to get it work whenever they drew my blood. It hurt, but compare to labor it was nothing.

I avoid taking pain medication as much as I can and I really didn't feel any pain after the third day. I mean I was just sore but it wasn't pain.

The nurses came help me get up on the third day. I was so weak I could only stand there.

On the forth day, I was able to get up and walk around with help. I tried to walk as much as I can because I just wanted to be able to get my strength back so that I could take care my baby and go home.

After that, I was able to get up and go to the bathroom with very little help.

They had been telling me that I could go home on Thursday, however, on Thursday morning, they told me that my blood pressure was still high and they wanted me to stay one more day. I was very upset because I didn't want to stay another minute.

After a while, the midwife came in and talked to me and said that she would go ahead and discharge me.  So I got to go home that day with the baby.

During the whole hospital stay, I breast fed the baby. It was really hard at first because I simply had no strength to even hold the baby. The nurses came in and helped me. I didn't have any milk until I got home from the hospital so it made it even harder.

Anyway, it was the first time I had to stay in a hospital. I had never stayed in a hospital before, and it was kind of a strange experience for me.

Our little family

Yoon Yoon is two and a half weeks old. She is very cute for the most part. One thing she hates the most is diaper change. She cries every time we try to change her. She doesn't even cry as loud when she is hungry.

Since the second week, she always want me to hold her in the middle of the night at about 4 a.m. I have to hold her till morning and try to feed her and put her down. If not, she wouldn't sleep and make wired noise that would keep me up anyway.

As for me, I am struggling to finish my hw. I am just so tired and just so not in the mood. However, I have to do it. I just want this semester to be over. I am going to take a break in summer.

As for Daddy, he is still kind of stress from the whole labor and delivery event. It was not fun for him to go through something like that again. Lucky that baby and I are perfectly fine.

Anyway, I love my husband and baby.

Julianna's Birth Story

Well, I have finally gotten over the fact that I had an C-section. The whole labor and delivery was nothing like what I had imagined for 9 months. However, baby and I are doing great and I can't ask for more. Here is her birth story:

She was born on March 11, 2012. It was a Sunday. One week before her official due date.

Saturday morning, March 10, 2012, Mommy got up a bit early and wanted to make breakfast for Daddy. Then she had breakfast at village inn with a couple of friends. After that she went to the testing center to take her marketing exam because it was going to be spring break and she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to take the exam after spring break as it was cutting close to due date.

She spent a few hours at the testing center trying to study for the exam. After she took the exam, she went to Walmart. She had to walk a little bit to the bus stop and her legs were hurting, she thought it was because she was tired. She finally got to Walmart and tried to get something ready for herself to go to the hospital. She also picked up the dresser for the baby she ordered online. After she was done shopping for herself, she got really tired and hungry, it was about 5 or 6 pm. So she went and sit down at Mcdonalds to eat. After she ate, she realized that she forgot to get some birthday gifts. So she went and got those. Right when she was done and walking out to sit down and wait for Daddy, her water broke and at the same time, Daddy texted Mommy and told her that he was coming to pick her up.

Mommy didn't want Daddy to be too nervous so she didn't tell Daddy her water had broken. She just sat and wait. Finally, Mommy saw Daddy's jeep pull in so she walked to the jeep and her water was leaking again. Daddy was on the phone with someone so Mommy waited for a bit to tell Daddy that her water might have broken.

Mommy and Daddy didn't know what to think at that point because they weren't sure if they were going to have the baby that night. They tried to call the midwife but got no response, so they headed to the hospital. When they got to the hospital, they didn't know which way to go. It was kind of frustrating because it WAS an emergency. They finally found the right place and checked in.

The nurse came in and checked Mommy and see if her water really broke and it was. However, Mommy hadn't start contractions or dilated one bit, however,  Mommy's blood pressure was really high.

After a while, the midwife came and said that Mommy might not be stable enough to be induced. Baby needed to be born within 24 hours after the water broke. Blood work finally came back and they said that Mommy was ok to be induced.

They told Mommy it might take the whole day and night because she hadn't dilated one bit. It was rather an uncomfortable night for Mommy. At first, the contractions weren't bad. However, once the morning came, contractions got really bad, they were almost non-stop. Only 1 second apart at best. Mommy was going to give in to epidural because of the intense pain. She finally decided not to. The doctor and the midwife said that her blood pressure was 10 times higher overnight and if she didn't have the baby right away, it could be fatal because her liver was going to shut down. It was a very serious case of acute pre eclampsia.

They checked Mommy and she was only 1 cm dilated. They decided that she needed to have an emergency C-section to get the baby out. Daddy and the family thought that she should have a priesthood blessing before the surgery. So they waited for Chandra and Austin (Daddy's sister and brother in law) to come to do the blessing. Daddy wasn't able to say the blessing because he was too worried. Daddy and Austin lay hands on Mommy's head to give her a blessing.

After that, Mommy was rushed into the surgery room. Mommy had the urge to push, but the doctor told her to try not to push. The midwife checked Mommy again and found that she was already 8 cm dilated. They thought maybe Mommy didn't need an C-section. They wanted to wait for 5 mins and see if Mommy would fully dilated. She didn't, so they put Mommy out. Daddy wasn't allow to be in the room. He was worried sick .

When Mommy woke up from the surgery, she saw everyone standing around her and told her that she had the baby. They put the baby on Mommy chest and she thought that baby has her nose.

Daddy later told Mommy that he wasn't the first to see the baby because he was so worried that he couldn't get up from the floor. When Daddy was finally able to get up, they asked if he wanted them to get the baby for him. Daddy said no, he said he wanted to go get his baby.

Mommy and baby are doing good. Baby is very healthy and just perfect.

Our baby was born

Our Baby, Yoon-Ching Julianna, was born on March 11, 2012. She is now two weeks old. It has been a pleasure to have her with us. She is a very good baby. She doesn't cry unless she is hungry or we try to change her.

Believe it or not, she is able to lift up her own head. I can't believe how strong she is. When she was still in my tummy, Jason thought that she was uncommonly strong. I guess it is true. She can also almost roll herself over which is really scary.

Only two weeks ago, I didn't know how being a mother was like. The first day she was here, my mother instinct kicked in immediately. It felt like she had always been here. Now, I couldn't imagine how life would be like without her.

It hasn't been too bad taking care of her. Sometime it is tiring trying to breast feed because she likes to fall asleep after a couple sucks. I have to keep feeding her for 2 hours sometime. However, I don't mind taking care of her. I just love her very very much.

The whole experience is still so unreal to me. I am a Mom, finally, after being pregnant for 39 weeks.
